# TopPost vs HyperFrames

Updated: 2026-09-29 · Facts checked: 2026-09-29 · URL: https://www.toppost.ai/compare/toppost-vs-hyperframes/

TopPost and HyperFrames both let an AI agent like Claude or Codex build video as code. The difference is everything around the code. HyperFrames is HeyGen’s open-source framework: you install it, host it and run the renders. TopPost’s MCP is plug and play: connect your agent and it edits your real footage, renders in the cloud, and handles review and posting.

**Quick answer:** Choose **HyperFrames** if you’re a developer who wants free, code-defined motion graphics, templated or data-driven video and renders you control (Apache-2.0, Node 22+ and FFmpeg). Choose **TopPost** if you want your agent editing your real footage today, with 45 hosted MCP tools, cloud rendering, captions, review and scheduling to 6 platforms, and nothing to install (free to start, then from $29/month).

HyperFrames has grown fast since its April 2026 launch, and for good reason: it’s free, deterministic and genuinely built for agents. The real question is whether you want to run a video pipeline yourself, or have your agent drive one that’s already running.

## How we compared TopPost and HyperFrames

TopPost and HyperFrames were compared on one job: turning footage you shot into a finished, posted short-form video. HyperFrames facts come from its GitHub repository and official docs, checked 2026-09-29. TopPost facts come from the product itself.

1. Listed every step from raw footage to a published post: cut, caption, motion graphics, review, schedule, publish.
2. Checked which steps each tool does for you, which it lets your agent build, and which need another tool.
3. Compared the running costs of each path: plans vs self-hosting vs hosted rendering.
4. Where HyperFrames’ docs don’t mention a feature, the page says “we found no…” rather than claiming it doesn’t exist.
5. Not yet done: building the same edit in both tools and timing it. When it’s run, the files and timings will be published here.

## TopPost and HyperFrames both build video as code

HyperFrames turns HTML, CSS and animation libraries like GSAP into video. A composition is an HTML file, the renderer steps through it frame by frame in headless Chrome, and FFmpeg encodes the result. It’s Apache-2.0 licensed with no per-render fees, and it needs Node.js 22+ and FFmpeg to run ([GitHub](https://github.com/heygen-com/hyperframes)).

TopPost’s agent also edits in code. An edit is a video sheet: HTML-like markup of beats, speech, cuts, text and motion that the agent reads and patches. Motion graphics are HTML and CSS pages the agent can write, lint and reuse. The difference is that TopPost compiles, renders and hosts all of it for you, so the agent works on the edit, not the pipeline.

## How TopPost and HyperFrames handle real footage

HyperFrames can work with footage you shot. It can transcribe audio and add animated captions, and its docs show cuts made by editing the composition (“split scene 2 at 0:04”) ([HyperFrames docs](https://hyperframes.heygen.com/prompting/editing-existing-videos)). The captions and recut workflows keep the original clip and audio untouched; removing pauses or reordering speech is left to a custom, agent-directed workflow ([HyperFrames docs](https://hyperframes.heygen.com/guides/captions-and-recuts)). We found no automatic silence removal.

TopPost is built around that job. Picture 40 minutes of phone footage and a client expecting five posts by Friday. The agent cuts it, removes silences, adds captions, B-roll, motion graphics and sound effects, and Ditto copies the look and pacing of a past edit onto the new footage.

## Plug and play vs build and host: TopPost and HyperFrames for agents

HyperFrames was built for agents from day one. It ships skills for Claude Code, Codex, Cursor and Gemini CLI, a non-interactive CLI, and a hosted MCP connector that’s currently in beta and runs on a HeyGen account ([HyperFrames docs](https://hyperframes.heygen.com/guides/mcp)). Your agent writes the video as code.

TopPost is plug and play. Connect Claude Code, Codex, Cursor, VS Code Copilot, Gemini CLI with an API key and your agent gets 45 tools on a hosted endpoint: upload footage, build and patch the edit, write motion graphics, render in the cloud, send a review link, read the comments and fix them, then put the post on the calendar. There’s no server, renderer or storage to set up. When your own AI does the editing, no TopPost credits are used, so you pay for storage only.

## Review, scheduling and publishing in TopPost and HyperFrames

HyperFrames ends at the rendered file. It can publish a project to a shareable URL, but we found no comment threads, approval flow or social posting in its docs ([HyperFrames docs](https://hyperframes.heygen.com/guides/export-and-share)). An independent review also notes it has no publishing or scheduling ([Kompozy](https://kompozy.io/reviews/heygen-hyperframes)).

TopPost keeps going after the render. Clients comment on a review link at the exact timestamp, with no account needed, and approved videos go onto a calendar that publishes to TikTok, Instagram, Facebook, YouTube, Pinterest, LinkedIn.

## The real footage test: TopPost vs HyperFrames

HyperFrames partly passes the real footage test: it can caption and cut footage you shot, but you (or your agent) assemble the edit as code, and review and posting happen somewhere else. TopPost passes it end to end: your footage in, a captioned, reviewed and scheduled post out.

That’s not a knock on HyperFrames. It’s built for a different job: motion graphics, product videos and data-driven video made from code. If that’s your job, it’s an excellent free tool.

## TopPost vs HyperFrames pricing

HyperFrames is free and open source; what you pay for is the machine or cloud that renders it. TopPost charges for AI credits and storage only; exports are free on every plan.

| | TopPost | HyperFrames |
| --- | --- | --- |
| Free | Free plan: every AI tool, 40 (one-time) credits, watermarked exports | Free to self-host (Apache-2.0) |
| Paid | Starter $29/month, Pro $49/month | Your own compute, or HeyGen Cloud rendering on a HeyGen account |
| Rendering at scale | Included | Deploy to AWS Lambda or Google Cloud Run yourself, or use HeyGen Cloud |
| With your own AI | Storage only when your AI does the editing | Your AI’s own usage costs |

HyperFrames’ hosted cloud rendering bills against a HeyGen account; 4K is billed at 1.5× ([HyperFrames docs](https://hyperframes.heygen.com/deploy/cloud)). Self-hosted rendering can run on your own Lambda or Cloud Run ([HyperFrames docs](https://hyperframes.heygen.com/deploy/overview)).

## Choose TopPost if…

- You shoot real footage and want it edited, captioned and posted, not built as code.
- A client or team has to comment on and approve videos before they go out.
- You want scheduling and publishing to TikTok, Instagram, Facebook, YouTube, Pinterest, LinkedIn in the same place.
- You want your agent (Claude Code, Codex, Cursor) editing video today, with no install, hosting or render servers to run.
- Nobody on your team wants to install Node, FFmpeg or deploy a renderer.

## Choose HyperFrames if…

- You’re a developer and want video defined as code, versioned in git.
- Your videos are motion graphics, product launches, explainers or data visualisations rather than footage.
- You need deterministic renders for CI, or templated video at scale from data.
- You want a free, open-source tool you can self-host with no licence fee.
- You’re moving off Remotion: HyperFrames ships a migration skill ([HyperFrames docs](https://hyperframes.heygen.com/guides/hyperframes-vs-remotion)).

**Where TopPost falls short** Your agent edits TopPost’s code (the sheet and pages), but you can’t export it as a project, version it in git or render it from CI. It’s built for vertical short-form social video, not long-form, landscape explainers or data visualisation. Beyond the free plan’s credits it isn’t free, while HyperFrames costs nothing but compute.

## TopPost vs HyperFrames: frequently asked questions

### Is TopPost an alternative to HyperFrames?

For editing real footage into social posts, yes. For building motion graphics or templated video as code, no: HyperFrames is the better tool for that, and the two can work side by side.

### What is the main difference between TopPost and HyperFrames?

Both let an agent build video as code. HyperFrames is an open-source framework you install, host and render yourself. TopPost is hosted and plug and play: your agent connects over MCP and TopPost handles footage, rendering, review and scheduling.

### Is HyperFrames free?

Yes. HyperFrames is Apache-2.0 licensed with no per-render fees. You pay for the compute you render on, or for HeyGen’s hosted cloud rendering if you use it.

### Can HyperFrames edit real footage?

Partly. It can transcribe and caption footage and cut it by editing the composition. We found no automatic silence removal, client review or social publishing in its docs.

### Can I use TopPost and HyperFrames with Claude Code?

Yes, both. HyperFrames installs as a Claude Code plugin and renders on your machine. TopPost connects to Claude Code over MCP with an API key, and renders in TopPost’s cloud.

### HyperFrames vs Remotion: which is better?

Remotion is older and more established, uses React and needs a paid company licence for teams of more than three; HyperFrames uses HTML and is Apache-2.0. Both are frameworks; neither is a finished editor with review and posting.
